Midlothian Council introduced estate walkabouts in partnership with the tenants forum.
Estate walkabouts are an opportunity for tenants to raise any concerns about problems that exist on their estate, particularly with regards to the physical environment.
Normally a small group of tenants will be accompanied by a housing officer walking round an agreed area. The tenants will be able to point out any areas of concern, which will be recorded by the housing officer. The walkabout usually lasts around one hour and everyone has a cuppa afterwards.
There is a programme of estate walkabouts see the timetable by clicking here.
Who can take part?
Estate walkabouts are open to all tenants of Midlothian Council. You do not need to be resident in the area being inspected.

On one of the recent walkabouts this picture was taken highlighting the problem of communal areas with weeds growing through the slabs and rubbish left making the area look very run down.
