Midlothian Tenants Forum AGM 2009

On Saturday 14th November at 10.30am the Arts Centre Dalkeith was the setting for the Midlothian Tenants Forum Annual General Meeting. The event was well attended by tenants and Council staff with 6 new tenant members joining the Forum on the day. Michael Boal from the Scottish Government and Jim Marniak the Chairperson of BEEM gave short presentations about how tenant participation has flourished in East Lothian and how tenants can be involved on regional committees with direct involvement in housing policy. Michael spoke about the new Housing Bill and the Tenants Charter and the important role tenants have in helping to shape this.

Business was conducted by Vice Chairperson Alex Robertson in the absence of Chairperson Peter Moonie. Lavinia Kilbride as an independent advisor then took over the formal business when the committee stepped down and there were a few minor changes made to the constitution then it was agreed by those present that the committee members be nominated and proposed at the next monthly meeting of the forum to which everyone was invited to attend.Refreshments were served and everyone had a chance to network before the close of the meeting.
