Midlothian Tenants Day 2011

Saturday 21st May 2011 saw us hosting the very first Midlothian Tenants Day in the Dalkeith Art Centre. All Midlothian Council tenants were free to attend the event which included information stalls, presentations given on topics we asked for, a raffle and a pretty good lunch!

The event made excellent use of the Art Centre's facilities with information stalls being held in the front room, presentations in  the back and lunch served in the kitchen area. Information stalls were held by the Midlothian Libraries Service, Midlothian Leisure Service, a healthy eating initiative and the Energy Savings Trust. Tenants were free to browse the information on display before taking their seats for the morning's presentations which were given by Stephen Clark (Senior Housing Strategy Officer) on the council's new build scheme, Jim Fleming (Community Safety Officer) on tackling antisocial behaviour, George Mackenzie (Mediation Service Co-ordinator) on Midlothian's Community Mediation Service and Colin Anderson (Director of Communities and Wellbeing) gave an over view of his division within the council. Kevin Anderson (Head of Housing and Community Safety) then joined the panel of speakers for a question and answer session.

The panel were joined by Alex Robertson, our chairperson, for the question and answer session before a raffle was held and lunch was served. The Tenants Day was well attended and everyone had a very good time. For photos of the event please see our 'galleries' page.
